Connie Fisher, winner of How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria? Has won most promising newcomer at the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Awards. The Sound of Music, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage show won best musical revival.
Connie won for her performance as Maria, the singing nun.
Best musical was won by Wicked the story of witches from the Wizard of OZ, and scooped four awards. Idina Menzel won best actress as the Wicked Witch of the West while Miriam Margolyes scooped best supporting actress.
Other winners included, Dame Judi Dench for her role in Hay Fever by Noel Coward, and Kevin Spacey was named best actor for his role in A Moon For The Misbegotten by Eugene O’Neill.
