Several media companies including Viacom Inc, News Corps, Sony Corps, Time Warner Inc, and Walt Disney Co have alleged that Google have deliberately directed traffic to websites that are engaged in fostering piracy.

Google have told the studios that it will implement new procedures to prevent any further recurrences. Google have been accused of profiting from the sale of pirate movies and providing support to 2 websites that offer access to illegal free movie downloads.

The Wall Street Journal said…claims against Google were based on sworn statements made late last year as part of a civil lawsuit by Hollywood studios against two men accused of operating websites that allegedly helped users illegally access copyrighted material. These sworn statements indicate that Google representatives sold advertisements to the two sites knowing they were doing this.
