Songwriter Ray Evans dies

Ray Evans, Oscar winning songwriter and collaborative partner of Jay Livingstone has dies at the age of heart failure. Evans and Livingstone produced many classics in the music industry including… Buttons & Bows, Mona Lisa, Whatever Will Be Will Be (Que Sera, Sera) and Silver Bells.

For more than 6 decades Evans and Livingstone worked together, Evans writing the Lyrics while Livingstone provided the melodies. The duo won 3 Oscars, one for Buttons & Bows from the movie Paleface starring Bob Hope in 1948, another for the famous Mona Lisa from the movie Captain Cary USA in 1950, and a final one for Whatever Will Be Will Be from the movie The Man Who Knew Too Much in 1956.

They also produced the lovely classic Christmas carol Silver Bells, and the TV theme songs for Bonanza and Mr Ed.

Livingstone aged 86 died back in 2001.
