
New Line Cinema has fallen out with Peter Jackson over plans to shoot the prequel to The Lord of the Rings. Co-chairmen of New Line Cinema Robert Shaye has told the New York Times that while there is no workable script for the Hobbit, and no decision on how will direct it, he intends the movie to be released in two years.
Apparently, Jackson had been keen to direct the Hobbit until he fell out with New Line Cinema and filed a lawsuit over profits for the Lord of the Rings.
Robert Shaye has previously said he doesn’t care about Jackson and has called him “myopic” He told the New York Times he doesn’t regret the comments, but does regret losing a friend.
New Line Cinema has scooped more than $3 Billion from Lord of the Rings.
