Well my guess is Basic Instinct 2 won’t be getting any Oscars, this sequel starring Sharon Stone has managed to pull in no less than four “Razzies” at the Golden Raspberry Awards, the annual ceremony that mocks the worst of movies ahead of the Oscars.
Basic Instinct 2 was named worst film. Sharon Stone got worst actress, and it also picked up worst sequel and screenplay.
John Wilson, founder of the Razzies had this to say, “Although the actress still looks good in her late 40s, the film had no reason to exist. I mean, 14 years on and you haven’t got Michael Douglas, why are you making this? And the box office proves there was no interest in it when a $70,000,000 can’t make $6m, that’s pretty lame.”
Others to receive a Razzie were, Wayans brothers Little Man collected 3, which included the worst remake, or rip-off. M Night Shyamalan was named worst director and worst supporting actor for Lady in the Water. Carman Electra got worst supporting actress for Date Movie and Scary Movie 4.
Winners of Razzies receive a gold sprayed trophy in the space of a raspberry, which the organisers say is only worth $5.
