Well it has been a long time coming but now Martin Scorsese has finally achieved it by winning his first Oscar, and what better way to receive his award by receiving it from Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas.
The gangster movie The Departed just missed getting into the Oscars last year so he had to wait a whole year to get his shot at winning his first Oscar for Best Picture and boy was it worth the wait, but Scorsese did say while he was making his acceptance speech “Could you double-check the envelope.”
Over the years many have wondered why one of the best directors in the business has been passed over no more than 5 times for great movies like Goodfellas and Raging Bull, but none of that matters now as Martin Scorsese has now received the gratitude that he so rightfully deserves
