Gareth Hunt, star of the hit TV series The Avengers has died at the age of 65. he died from pancreatic cancer. In the Avengers Hunt played the part of Mike Gambit with fellow stars Joanna Lumley’ and Patrick McNee, who played the parts of Purdey and John Steed respectively.
Lumley was shocked and saddened by his death and had paid tribute to him by saying he was a “dear friend” and he was “loved by everyone who knew him.” Many who would not remember Gareth from the Avengers would know him for starring in the Nescafe coffee adverts.
His agent had this statement to say “He fought the disease with great courage and through his strength of character and his wonderful sense of humour he continued to work right up until the end of 2006.”
