New Line gets Escape From New York

On March 15th New Line finalised a deal to remake the movie Escape From New York. 300 star Gerard Butler will star, and Neal Moritz will produce through his Original Films banner.

Ken Nolan, writer of Black Hawk Down will write the script. Executive producers are John Carpenter who directed the original Escape From New York, Ori Marmur, Frederic Sichler and Ron Halpern of Canal Plus, who also held the remake rights.

Gerard Butler will play Snake Plissken, the lead character originally portrayed by Kurt Russell in 1981.
