Amityville director Rosenberg dies

Movie director Stuart Rosenberg has died of a heart attack at his home in Beverly Hills at the age of 79.
Rosenberg’s last movie credit was in 1991 with contemporary western My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys. He worked on several TV series before making his debut big-break into movies by directing Cool Hand Luke in 1967 starring Paul Newman.
Rosenberg also directed Paul Newman in The Drowning Pool, WUSA, and Pocket Money. He also directed Robert Redford in Brubaker.
Probably Rosenberg’s biggest success was The Amityville Horror in 1979, which has generated several sequels. His list of TV credits includes, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, Naked City, Ben Casey, and The Untouchables, to name just a few.
