
Nelly Futado was given 5 awards at Canada’s Juno awards ceremony this weekend, she hosted the ceremony and took every award in the categories in which she was nominated. The awards, equivalent to America’s Grammys, was broadcast from Saskatsoon’s Credit Union Centre on Saturday night.
The show opened with Furtado’s hit “Im Like a Bird” as she drifted down from the ceiling dressed in a tutu and feathers. She made several costume change’s during the evening and performed a medley of her hits.
Furtado won artiste of the year, Album of the year for “loose,” and song of the year for “Promiscuous” a Canadian number one plus several more.
International album went to Dixie Chicks for “Taking the Long road.” Group of the year and best rock album went to Billy Talent who also performed at the ceremony along with many more artist’s.
