Last Friday saw a trend in Beatle mania taken to the limit when a man forced his way through security patrols into Sir Paul McCartney’s country mansion shouting, “I must get him.” The man was detained under the mental health act after police chased him through country lanes at Peasmarsh East Sussex where Sir Paul’s £2.5million estate is situated.
This follows a Beatle trend where over the years the singers have been plagued with fanatics and maniac’s; the most famous being the killing of John Lennon by a deranged fan Mark Chapman on December 8th 1980. Lennon was returning to his New York apartment after a recording session and was shot dead.
The stabbing of George Harrison was claimed to be a burglary but police believed it to be an attack by Mike Abram 33 from Liverpool; he pleaded innocent to two count’s of attempted murder saying it was a mission from god.
