
One of Italy’s greatest post-war filmmakers, Luigi Comencini has dies at the age of 90. Rome’s mayor, Walter Veltroni released a statement describing Comencini as, “A master, one of the great and unforgettable directors in the history of film.”
In 1972 Comencini directed Le avventure di Pinocchio, the adventures of Pinocchio, for TV. Comencini was also one of the founders of Italy’s first film archive, and worked alongside stars such as Gina Lollobrigida, and Vittorio De Sica.
