Liz keeps Van Gogh Nazi loot!

A Van Gogh painting named View of the Asylum and Chapel at Saint-Remy, brought by Hollywood Legend Dame Elizabeth Taylor back in 1963 for £92,000, and now worth an estimated £8 million could have possibly been looted by the Nazis.

In 2004 the Orkin family sued Liz and claimed the painting were among items confiscated by the Nazis and should be returned under the U.S. Holocaust Victims Redress Act, but Dame Elisabeth stood her ground stating she is the rightful owner.

On Friday, the U.S. appeal court backed Taylors claim to the painting, ruling that the Orkin’s had waited too long to make the claim.

Judge Sidney Thomas stated: “It is apparent that Taylor’s acquisition of the painting was certainly discoverable at least by 1990, when she held it out for sale in an international auction, and most probably as early as 1963, when she acquired it in a highly publicised international auction. Any claim on the painting expired in or before 1993, three years after the last public announcement of Taylor’s ownership”.
