
British TV Production Company Channel 4 have been ordered by television watchdog Ofcom to make grovelling apologies for its disastrous handling of the race row emanating from TV show Big Brother. Ofcom has found Channel 4 guilty of “serious editorial misjudgement.”
Ofcom also stated Channel 4 broke broadcasting laws on no less than three occasions by allowing the racist slurs to Shilpa Shetty to be aired and also accused the network of trying to cover up the worst of the bullying when watchdog investigators watch unseen footage.
Channel 4 will escape a huge fine; however, it will have to screen an apology three times before the start of the next series which begins next Wednesday 30 th May, and again before the start of the repeat show.
