District attorney Ford Cole has a good shot at becoming mayor, but finds himself with a big problem on his hands, assistant district attorney Nora Timmer confesses to him she has just killed a man, but states it was self defence. Things turn worse when a stranger walks into the police station and makes a statement challenging Timmer’s claim of self defence. With his career in the balance, Cole has a few hours to find the truth about what happened.
