In a recent E-Poll people were asked who would win American Idol 2008, and forty percent said that David Archuleta would take the crown. What made Archuleta so popular was his rendition of John Lennon’s song Imagine.
The strange thing is David has had a bad time lately as has had trouble with a number of his songs, and the judges have been very critical of his performances. But each week he manages to stay out of the bottom three. However it is not just David Archuleta who could win, many people are tipping rocker David Cook to win American Idol 2008.
David Archuleta will definitely win the idol 2008 competion.. not David Cook nor Jason Castro,,, Casto has just the looks,,, luckily,, its not a radio show otherwise,, not one will listen to his songs

On contrary, if you take versality into account - it has to be David Cook. I don’t personally like him but if I judge based on talent. Cook’s it. Archuleta is predictable. He will sing how he always sing. He will always be sweet but, will he be a star? My take is no.
Comment by Tony — April 25, 2008 @ 6:23 am
David ARchuleta will win. Some of us are really tired of listening to loud music and support singers that are already established such as David Cook (already has CDs out). As far as David ARchuleta being predictable let me comment on this. It is predictable that he is the Voice to beat, he is humble and a great role model for all generations, predictable that his CD’s will not contain Loud and explicit material. If that is what is coming our way. I LOVE PREDICTABLE. He is only 17 years old just think by the time he reaches David Cooks age how much better he will be. David Cook is also very predictable to me. We can always count on his to SHOUT his music at us every week. Personally, I love vocalists I can relax and destress with. There are enough Rockers and shouters and singers with explicit hip hop music. Time to introduce the younger generation to a a new style that is cool also. No I am not a teen but a 30+ year old single Mom who absolutely loves Archuleta’s voice, style, what he stands for and humble focused attitude. Thtat is my American role modle Idol and will continue to vote for him. If you like David Cook go ahead and purchase his current CD’s they are on sale already. I already enjoy David Archuleta’s Itunes songs and love him. Go David Archuleta.

I hope this kid wins. He is what Idol is looking for. BUT..David Cook, Carly Smithson, Micheal Johns will do far better than an idol contract. The contest was over once it was allowed for the teeny girls to hug Archeleta on stage. It was unfair to the ones who are better performers. Thios kid has been endorsed through the contest. America will get a kid with a half good voice. He is not shy as he stopped the idols singing’I'm Telling You”. I do not see longevity but a McDonald’s commercial and Dissneyland. Maybe walk in on Mily’s show.
Comment by Mary — May 9, 2008 @ 10:36 am
At this point in the competition, all three singers will be performing at their best; however, I would not be surprised if the final two are David Archuletta and David Cook. Both of these young men are very talented, and deserve to win!!
Comment by Judy — May 9, 2008 @ 5:20 pm
What do you mean American Idol endorsed David Archuleta with bringing the young girls on the stage to give him a hug? How ridiculous are you people? This young man has been working so hard to be the best performer every week and so incredibly talented. So what? David Cook gets the questions about dating him….who cares? David ARchuleta needs to win. He is the VOICE to beat. We have enough rock singers. David C is talented, so let people that love rock buy his CD’s who cares? In rock week he was not good. Hmmmmmmm and he is so many years older and more experienced. Go vote for him if you like. My whole family is voting for young man our new American Idol David Archuleta. VOTE VOTE VOTE. His voice gives me goosebumps. WOW!

please, David Cook to win. in fact, anyone but not that little boy David A.
Comment by hippycat — May 12, 2008 @ 5:45 pm
the only people who vote fro D. A. are kids and they will find endorsing him embarassing in 2 years at the latest. D. C. has talent,as did Carly, Amanda, Sayesha, Ramiele…….all left too early. Please, Mr. Cook, save us from Candy-David.
Comment by hippycat — May 12, 2008 @ 5:50 pm
Yeah Right. DAvid Cook, Carly and Sayesha were all very experienced entertainers that have been established already. This show is not about the established talent but the newly discovered talent. Get over it. David Cook is too ugly, he looks like he just rolls out of bed and gets on stage with bad hairdos every week. Needless to say, he shouts his songs at us, does not sing for US. You like David Cook vote for him. Another ugly rocker we do not need. We have enough FREAKS in the music business. GO DAVID ARCHULETA. The real talent and the voice to beat every week. The rest of you can crawl in a ditch and cry, or better yet. go out and buy the loud CD that David Cook has out already, you know the one he could not give away a few months ago? WHAT A REAL TALENT YUK

gvve me an experinced singer like David C anytime over the all-American
clean-cut kid like David A who exudes only one thing: boredom.
if he looks ‘as if he rolled out of bed: great, Maria (who wrote this glowing defence of mr. A), what do you look like? and what does it matter? this is about talent, and talent David A has absolutely none…..he can smile and is a turn-on for the 7 - 12 years old. but not deserving of a contract. he always sounds the same, sings the same, awful phrasing (all THE people) and his worst performance was ‘Imagine’ - I heard John lennon turning in his grave. …..listen to the real lyrics and the real recording. long live rockers!
Comment by hippycat — May 13, 2008 @ 11:18 am
you said it, Maria: GO, DAVID ARCHULETTA!
Comment by hippycat — May 13, 2008 @ 11:23 am
by the way, having checked the betting odds (all in favour of little David A a few weeks ago, swing now in favour of David C. in fact, going by the bookies, he’ll win.) judges always love people they can form and mould, not personalities. David C, if you write your own song, you’ll get very far - independent of who wins this contest. in fact, in the long run, losing it might be better. being an ‘idol’ winner isn’t exactly an endorsement but has the smell of lab-rats about it …….real talent like Amy Winehouse doesn’t come out of the X-factor or American Idol…….it comes from real life and that’s possibly American Idol’s only saving grace - the fact that there are some people who had a life before A I and can inject it in their songs….
Comment by hippycat — May 13, 2008 @ 12:03 pm
I think David Cook’s the one who’s overrated. He’s the one who’s less versatile; he can only sing rock! His performances are getting predictable and boring. He relies mostly on the band, and he’s just lucky that the arrangements of his songs are always good. But if they were both to sing a capella, David A. will surely do better. American Idol is about being the best singer, and David A. is definitely the BEST singer.
Comment by rachel — May 15, 2008 @ 8:28 am
reading all this - my own comments included - is really hilarious. there are people writing on other people’s behalf ‘we are tired of’. people who think their favourite will win if they only repeat it often enough ‘David A will win’ etc. the truth is that the betting odds are fairly equal and someone from the D.A. camp will never persuade a D.C fan and vice versa. me, i can’t stand the sight and sound of D.A. but should he win, his existence would fade from my memory within minutes. David C - be glad if he won but wouldn’t buy his records either (unless he writes his own stuff - reminds me a bit of Bruce Springsteen). I’ll stick with people who weren’t spit out by shows like American Idol/X-factor which - at the end of the day - are nothing more than a bit of TV entertainment.
Comment by hippycat — May 15, 2008 @ 10:19 am
David Archuleta should win this for one reason and one reason only. He has the BEST VOCALS. David Cook is good but he sometimes sounds lkie he is yelling and when he does that he sings off key. Randy Jackson has told him that several times after his performance.
David A all the way!!!
Comment by T. Taylor — May 15, 2008 @ 4:49 pm
funny, how people pick and choose comments from the judges that reflect their own opinion. Randy Jackson also said that D. C. was the only one who could record an album straightaway……..get real folks. most winners aren’t there a year or 2 from now. who won last year? Keryy Underwood till well out of it as did Leona Lewis in Britain. the rest is silence. the lifespan of an A.I winner is equivalent that of a Mayfly, especially because most voters are very young and when they turn 14, they can’t believe who the actually voted for. Simon C. wants to lower the age, allowing 14-year-olds to compete. fodder for an industry who knows they have to come up with a one-hit wonder more and more often ’cause teens grow up faster than ever. it’s nothing but a TV show, not life. if you want music, have a loo at Amy Winehouse, Bob Dylan and people who are actually creative.
Comment by hippycat — May 15, 2008 @ 6:24 pm
David Cook is NOT an established artist, he has one cd that he wrote, made and produced himself in his friends garage - he has never been signed or recognised. I think he is the all round package, he looks good and is a real musician/song writer.
David Archulaeta sounds the same each week and his voice is too soft and young. He needs a few years to mature. The tweens who vote for him now are very fickle.
Comment by saraht — May 16, 2008 @ 5:57 pm
I don’t understand why The Cook fans are so uptight, really now. Both David’s are winners at this point. It does not matter who wins at this point so Cookie fans CHILL and get a life. No need to stress over this. It is only entertainment. David Archuleta does sound the same to some of you, because he has consistently shown his incredible vocals and voice! So if that is what you call boring some of his fans (and I am in my 30’s LOVE (Boring and the same) I can listen to him and distress with his voice for HOURS. If you do not like his voice, don’t get so ANGRY, go buy David Cook’s old CD and no need to turn up the volume, he is consistent about one talent that he has SCREAMING at the end of each song. OK so this is America if you like that GREAT! No need to attack Archuleta about it. If you notice they have become great friends and have a lot of respect for each other’s talents. So why don’t you respect both of them and stop the nonsense. Or maybe yet, go attend some anger management classes. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ! Learn to respect and accept DIVERSITY in this country. This is America remember? Take a CHILL PILL!
Comment by Maria — May 16, 2008 @ 11:08 pm
Maria, you are hilarious. you tell people to chill out, yet you are the most uptight of the lot. ok, you dig D. A., well, so do milllions of others who don’t put capital latters in their emails and are a lot more tolerant than you. personally, D.A. makes me want to puke but millions dig him and that’s fine. most aren’t even teens yet and at that age you dig someone else every other week or month. you are in your thirties and i am in my fourties but at least i grew up with decent music, not lab rats. on one level, i hope D.A. wins as the tag of being an American Idol winner could be detrimental to D.C.’s career. he doesn’t need that endorsement from mostly 8 - 12 year olds who keep pressing the redial button. only one vote per person would give a better picture and something else: let them sing a whole song - at least 3 minutes - and not cut the songs down to 90 seconds. the truth is, 10 minutes after the show ended, most people will have forgotten all about it (again, i exclude the age group 7 - 12 - for them it might take 30 minutes) and get on with their lives (as it should be)- it is just a reality tv show, nothing more. ps: look up the word distress in a dictionary - it doesn’t mean letting go of stress, it means a negative highly emotional state of mind (as in i had distressing new: x died - but quite appropriate, even if unintentional).

DAVID ARCHULETA WILL WIN…..CAUSE HE HAS THE VOICE AND THE TALENTS TO BE THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL…I CAN FEEL IT DEEP DOWN IN ME THAT HE WILL WIN..AND I KNOW THAT HE WILL.I’VE NEVER MET HIM BUT MY HIGH SCHOOL PLAYS FOOTBALL AGAINST HIS SCHOOL EVERY YEAR(MY SCHOOL IS HIGHLAND HIGH SCHOOL HOME OF THE RAMS)…BUT I JUST WANTED TO VOTE FOR HIM….CAUSE HE IS THE BEST..
Comment by DIANA FOLAU — May 21, 2008 @ 5:24 am
David Cook SHOULD win American Idol, but David Archuleta will win American Idol, because all of the people that vote for David Archuleta are not voting for him because he sings good, they are voting for him because the young girls think he is cute. If America voted for David Archuleta because he sings good, David Cook would definitly in American Idol. In my opinion, I think that the judges should pick someone to be the next American Idol, because these past few years of American Idol have not been the best I’ve seen. Also in my opinion, David Cook should win because he has the potential, the image, a great voice, and I think he would sell more albums than David Archuleta. If David Archuleta wins American Idol, I think that David Cook will still keep going and become a great singer even if he doesn’t win American Idol.
Comment by LEXIE — May 21, 2008 @ 8:54 pm
I should love some of the arrogant know it alls David Cook fans that they think they know everything and have all the answers and are psychic with who is talented and who is not. Folks it is really very simple, if you like rock and roll loud screaming music, vote for David Cook. If you think he is cute (YUK) and you have dreams about dating him, vote for him.
David Archuleta is also very talented and has a great voice. Stop being so arrogant and think you know everything about everything in the music business. I am sure David Archuleta will not miss your not buying his ONE CD you probably could not afford to buy…DAH. So stop with the bashing and get an education. This is America we all like what we like, unless you have the power to sign big musical contracts, your way is not the only way. This is America we all have a choice. Better yet, please go and get an education about the different styles of music and the great diversity we have in this country. At the end of the day, your opinions do not really count or matter. WHO CARES? Both Davids have a great talent and they both winners. I see why some Americans are hated overseas, if you do not like exactly what I like or you are exactly like me you must be weird and not talented. YUK People. Get a freaking life. This is only entertainment. You do not matter in David Archuleta’s world as much as you think your mean and ugly character comments and characters are. Hey Elton John and Celine Dion are not for everybody either, but who cares about your opinion don’t buy their CD. Get some ear plugs and go listen to David Cook we really don’t give a crap about you either. STOP and please do get a LIFE! He is not going to date any of you.

Hey hippycat (not why wouldn’t you like David Cook with such a name). Sorry I mispelled the word de stress for you. Get a freaking life you uneducated moron. This is America we all vote for the ones we like. Get over it. Your way is not the only way and unless you are a big musical producer and can sign either one of them to a musical contract, at the end of the day, you do not matter honey. Get a freaking education and a life. Geez anybody who has time to look up mispelled words on these boards, needs a freaking life already. And I hate to disappoint you I am not a teen or a tween, but a New Marketing professional who studies trends of various artists and musical talent and have a college degree. hey, Maria, you are getting insulting. so far I found you faintly amusing but you crossed a line. sorry, i am degree-educated (Psychology) and don’t need to look simple words like distress up in a dictionary. it’s de-stress, by the way, not de stress and i didn’t need to look that one up either. I only mentioned it because you were so unintentionally funny as I find D. A. distressing indeed. you always accuse people of exactly the things you do - namely getting uptight about your dear David A. personally, yes I dig rock (Amy Winehouse, Stones, Dylan. Neil Young, Oasis, Marianne Faithfull etc) but the whole American idol thing doesn’t excite me for more than 5 minutes. It’s interesting only as a tv show. It’s over and - thank god - the right person - not some clean-cut kid with puppy eyes, a reasonable voice but no charisma - has won. If someone who lacks education and/or a life, I think it’s not me - read your emails again and get some insight into the workings of your mind - but don’t accuse others for your own shortcomings. oh, and I know you are in your thirties, you mentioned it in more than one email . and if you respond to an email, then please read it before you charge like a bull who sees a red flag. Ps: no idea what you meant with the first sentence relating to ‘hippycat’…..please enlighten me.

After going back and reading the post, It is a fact America got it right. I can only speak for myself, and do not see David Cook as being a forgetable winner. He is gracious and genuine. DA is a cute kid but he did not win. He will not be another Clay Aiken and I think he will be on Direct TV on Disney shows. You have to remember that teens are so fickle and go to the next fad quickly. It is the way teenagers are. I watched Star Search and DA is the one who has had tv exposure not DC..even so, DA did not get a record deal out of Star search but he has one now and it is as it should be as it will give DA more than Star Search offered. Also, I listened to the idol performances and honestly, DA is boring after a couple of songs and the songs that were a knockout was so overrated. Maybe DA has to mature but he is so ordinary as far as an intertainer and what the “it factor” is you are born with and DA was not born with it. There was better voted off than DA. So Archie fans, be happy DA got second

Well Mary you are entitled to your taste in music and opinion. But your way it not the only way. I hate to disappoint you, but I am 37 years old and voted for David Archuleta. Also like David Cook. If you think David A is boring, then so be it. Who cares what you really think? Whether or not you like it, David Cook and David Archuleta have both been signed up with huge contracts. Cook with RCA and Archuleta with Jive. I am sure Jive’s opinion on him is a lot more important than yours. If you need some education on this subject, log on to Jive and see who they have on their list. I am sure you do not go out and buy every artist’s CD anyway. So stick with the rock music, we are not offended. David Cook (the winner) has a lot more respect on Archuleta’s ability than his fans, and I am sure he has a lot more knowledge about him than you do. And by the way, thanks for the acceptance that DA got second. Thank God you don’t sign musical contracts. Cook should be glad if you can afford to buy his next CD.
