High School Musical as we know is an Emmy Award Winning TV Film, it’s said that it was the first ever Disney Channel Original Movie to be broadcast on the BBC on December 29, 2006. On the 16th August 2007 ratings went slightly up to 6.0 million viewers. The success was followed with High School Musical 2 which was released in 2007 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year is in production and is scheduled to be released in 2008. High School Musical 4 has been announced to be in the writing stages.
So let’s go back to how it all started. High School Musical is a story about two high school juniors Troy Bolton aka Zac Efron who is the captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez aka Vanessa Hudgens who is a shy transfer student who excels in math and science. And eventually they get together.
High School Musical 2 is the sequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical and it debuted on the 17th August 2007 on Disney Channel in the U.S. The premiere brought in a total of 17.3 million viewers in the United States that’s almost 10 million more than the first one making it, at the time, the highest-rated basic-cable broadcast in U.S. history.
In HSM 2 the summer brings excitement to the Wildcats as they go over their plans for their break from school. Troy Bolton stresses over getting a job, with the price of college looming on his mind, as well as trying to make sure he and Gabriella Montez are able to stay together all summer.
Now there is High School Musical 3: Senior Year which is due to hit our screens on the 24th October 2008. Now high school seniors, Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez are facing the prospect of being separated from each other as they go off in different directions.
Now we all thought that this would be the last one but Disney has confirmed that a 4th High School Musical is in the pipeline. Disney Channel Worldwide President Rich Ross confirmed the news to MTV, saying: “We are writing High School Musical 4. Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not. Will we have some of them? I hope so.”
There is one major problem with HSM 4 and that is Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale will not be in it according to reports. With out them in it will HSM be the same? I doubt it and I also think that all the hype of the film will die down, I maybe wrong but my daughter is HSM mad and I know that she is not happy with the fact the main 3 actors will not be in HSM 4 and I am sure she is not the only one.
What do you think?
They need to just stop while they are ahead. Leave the audience wanting a little more instead of overdoing it. It is a guarantee that #4 will not do as well. Zac and Vanessa and their evident on/off screen relationship is what people are interested in, otherwise it’s just another made for tv disney movie. I love the movies, but again just stop at #3.

I definitely think Zac and Vanessa should NOT be in it…they need to move on from this disney image and start doing more mature films; otherwise they will be thought of as “oh yeah those kids from high school musical” no one will take them as serious actors/actresses if they continue doing disney films.
I do indeed like high school musical and zac and vanessa but seriously this has got to stop..i think they made a wise decision in not being in it.
and yes it won’t be the same without them…but come on! High School Musical 4? no way.

I think Zac and Vanessa should be in HSM4 they made a household name for them selves. We the fans of High School Musical played our part in the High School Musical fanchise , we would love to have the two main stars to do another High School Musical movie. We love them as Troy and Gabrella there is no movie without the main stars , they taught us a lot of things in both 2 movies which we can use in our lives and we can thank them for teaching us from the movies the stared in.

Speaking as a mother, I know my daughter is NOT happy that Vanessa and Zac will not be in it. She already said that she won’t bother watching the fourth HSM if Zac and Vanessa are not in it. Maybe Disney should make them an offer they can’t refuse.

PS: I think Vanessa Hudgens is really beautiful and don’t agree with a previous comment that she is too ugly for Zac. That is so not true. The reason the HSM 1 and 2 have been so successful is due to the fact that Zac and Vanessa look good together and the chemistry is very noticeable.

Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale should be in every HSM film ever made. However Vanessa should NOT! Zac/Troy should get with Sharpay it would be much better as Gabriella is so fake. She’s ruined her image with the naked pictures, Zac deserves better.

I believe that we would watch HSM4 no matter who is in it. The only way that I would be very intrested to watch HSM4 is if Corbin Bleu is in it. I would watch it anyway but Corbin is my hottie super bum (sorry Troy) but this is Disney’s choice. They think that everyone loves it so much, but I think that if no one watches #4 they will get the point. so there is nothing to fight about.

Vanessa, Zac and Ashley - those three ARE the HSM. I’m sure that they could make up other characters to take their places in the movie, but it will not be the same. Vanessa is the reason I like HSM in the first place. She and Zac make the movie cute and more than a cheesy musical for me. Ashley is the perfect high school ‘villain’, who can be both friendly and evil
So I say again. High School Musical 4, shouldn’t be called High School Musical at all, since for me it means some quality Troyella cuteness and Sharpay humor. Without those, Hsm is just another movie, with nothing special to it.

In my opinion, I don’t think that Vanessa, Zac, and Ashley should star in HSM 4, because they have done some things that aren’t good for young viewers to be looking up to them as role models. But my other opinion is that Vanessa, Zac, and Ashely should star in HSM 4, because if they don’t less people will watch it, because it won’t be like the other HSM movies. Sequels to movies aren’t really as good at the first ones anyways.

I’m glad to receive news that Selena Gomez will have a role in HSM 3 but my answer to this question is: NO! First, they shouldn’t keep their hopes up. They would tell people over and over that there’ll be a fourth movie but what if Kenny Ortega falls into a comma? What if Vanessa and Zac die in a car accident because they were making out while Zac was driving (which I would like to happen right now)?
What if aliens ate the actors? What if Lucas Grabeel became gay? What if Ashley Tisdale went out of her mind, copied Britney Spears, shaved her head and the world ran out of wigs? Second, Vanessa may influence the movie with her craziness and the movie became pornographic. Ugh.
