Khandi Alexander (Dr. Alexx Woods) to quit CSI Miami

If the news of CSI star Gary Dourdan who plays Warrick Brown did not shock you that he was leaving the show, then the news that Khandi Alexander who plays Dr. Alexx Woods from spin-off CSI Miami leaving the show will. Alexander is expected to leave the show once her contract is up at the end of this season.

Khandi Alexander (Dr. Alexx Woods) to quit CSI Miami

The TV Guide has already reported the departure of Khandi however; CBS has declined to comment on it. The decision for her to leave is not a mutual one, it seems as if Alexander has a few issue with certain aspects of the show. In CSI: Miami her character Dr. Alexx Woods is a medical examiner for Miami-Dade, her career started in New York as a physician, then she decided to move to Miami for personal reasons and become a medical examiner there.

It is thought that CSI: Miami bosses are already looking for Alexander’s replacement, and it could end up being a male character. I am not sad that Khandi is leaving the show, I have never been able to warm to her character, and her voice is a little soft and deep. I just feel that she needed to have a little more life in her character, boring comes to mind.

All of the characters need to have more life. CSI Miami has some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen! But I’ve witnessed superb acting by Khandi Alexander in such shows as HBO’s “The Corner,” and Emily Proctor did a much better job as Ainsley Hayes on “The West Wing.” Maybe CSI just sucks talent from people.

  • Cody

wow, dara…you really put a lot of thought into that one! CSI sucks talent out of people..??..worst acting you’ve seen…haha…that explains why it is STILL the #1 show in all of television…and has been for years! Its just the facts dara…

  • Deborah

I will no longer watch the show, I saw her finale last night and
will watch no longer. Previous comment says she was to soft spoken she was great last night in the finale. Well you continue to enjoy the show my
DVR is no longer on to record CSI Miami. How many shows did they ever let her shine in everyone else has there special episode. I feel she is a great actress and will do fine out there.

I Loved Alexx! Her character was wonderful! She cared about her “patients.” As a nurse I appreciated her professionalism.

  • Hedda

I really liked Alex and the way she treated her “patients”…with courtesy and the way she would treat a family member. Wish medical examiners were like that in real life!! I will miss her.

  • Elaine

I will miss her. She was tremendous in The Corner. They created a great character and she did a terrific job. All the CSI’s have bad acting but people are interestd in forensic medicine so they get over. No one could find the things they get from crime scenes.

  • DK

Hello! Excuse me to those of you hate the acting on the #1 show in The U.S. & probaly more. No one is gluing your eye’s to the TV set. CSI Miami has very good actors, & actress’s. Khandi Alexander, you will be missed by 400 employees in the city of Ft lauderdale Florida. David carruso,Adam Rodgriguez,Emily Proctor, & Johnathan Togo make the show come Alive! Horracio’s one liners are PRICELESS!

    @cody

most popular doesn’t always mean best quality.

  • Dr. C

I also never warmed to her character whose concern for the dead boardered on necrophillia. I wish her well in future projects.

  • EW

I agree with DK, Khandi will be missed. I agree with some of the other comments as well. They didn’t let her character shine very much. You can only act on what the writers give. “THAT WASN’T MUCH” I can’t wait to see other things she will doing in the future.

  • Mrs. T

I have to say, when i heard that Khandi was leaving the show, my heart dropped to the floor. Yeah, yeah, Horatio’s one liners are priceless, and Delgado is fine as frogs hair, but Khandi was more than just a medical examiner, she gave hope to those that have experienced a close death. Alot of times, we worry about how our loved one’s are treated after a tragedy, but the care and precision that this character showed gave us another image to hold on to. Khandi, I wish you all the best on future endeavors!

Khandi Alexander showed the viewing public, that a beautiful woman can be well educated, intelligent and can have compassion for those who can no longer help themselves. She was a terrific role model for my daughters. She will be sorely missed.

CSI-Miami is one of my favorite network shows and Khani Alexander is one of my favorite characters. I wish CBS would get it’s act together or I thing perhaps you are going to loose a lot more veiwers. I tend to watch a great deat of cable programming except for a very few on network and now little by little your taking away my favorite characters. First it was Sarah Siddle from CSI and now I have learned you are also taking Warwick’s character what next Grissom, Heratio and Mac Taylor! I certainly hope not. Come on CBS get your act together. There are true loyal fans out there not just to the program but also to the characters. We feel as if we know them and look forword to seeing them every week in our living rooms, so please let’s not loose any more of our favorite people. You people really think the bottom line is money and if that is your true feeling than I would just as soon stop watching your programming now than later. Yours Truly a very disappointed comsumer. P.S. I would greatly appreaciated it if you would send this along to Ms. Alexander’s fan mail to let her know how much I am behind her. Yours Truly Carolyn A. Hamelin

Why is Gary Dourdan leaving CSI? I would like a clear answer to this question as this is the first time as to why I have heard anything about him leaving the program. Has it has anything to do with his drug bust or are there other reasons? I would greatly appreaciate a a reasonable reply, ASAP, thank you. Again I hope it has nothing to do with with CBS and money negotiotian’s because this is just geting a little bit too much. What happened to the quality of the shows and the good fan base that we had. I certainly hope that we haven’t lost that fan base.I hope to hear a reply from you ASAP. Thank you. Yours Truly Carolyn A Hamelin.

I loved her character on CSI Miami!! She showed the victims a lot of respect and treated them with dignity!!

  • Matt

Of the CSI family, I am sorry, but the writing (and perhaps the acting) of CSI Miami is without a doubt the weakest. So few of the characters have any real depth. Wolfe might be the only one who does, and barely so. Anytime something bad is going to happen to a major character ina two part espisode, I can almost guarantee its solved (the conflict, not the casE) 5 minutes into the second part. Rarely does anything in the show surprise me. It is also the most beautiful. There is a reason they spend so much on the ridiculous computer graphics. All this said, I do enjoy the show, but as a previous poster said, lets not confuse popularity with quality stories and acting.

It is a fun show to watch, but lets not pretend the intelligence that is in CSI and to a lesser degree CSI:New York is in CSI:Miami.

(as an aside, it is a sad, but regularly common aspect of American Television that the most popular TV shows also tend to be the least intelligent… it is often the overly creative, overly well thought out show that are always on the verge of cancellation. If we as viewers demanded more, then we would get more. If what we demand is glorified eye-candy, then that is what we will get)

  • Matt

    “Showed victims respect?”

Her lines were terrible. Just terrible. Always like “oh you poor girl”. Did she seem like a realistic character? Really?

  • Faith

I liked the way she called her carcasses names such as “honey”, “sweetie”, &nd “baby boy/girl” . I feel she was VERY realistic .

  • Mina

What about the fact that she was a Medical Examiner has escaped some of you? They work with the dead more than the living and the show actually gave her more human interaction than the real ME gets. It is their job to look closely at the body to pick up the evidence that is there and most likely some of the most crucial to the case since it’s on the victim. Don’t come here and make unnecessary comments if you don’t like her, the show or her character. Kvetch about that elsewhere, its disrespectful to do it here. The show will definitely never be the same.

  • Curtis

I felt that she cared about who she was working on by connecting with the dead by calling them baby or honey. She always made me smile. The new girl is cute but boring in the role.

  • M Caulfield

Khandi Alexander brought warmth, caring and spirituality to the character; whereas, Echikunwoke seemed cold, impersonal and even a bit shady. Megalyn’s looks and mannerisms were not befitting of an ME. She seemed detached from her victims and didn’t have much chemistry with the rest of the cast.

Personally, I think they should bring in another woman for the ME role, instead of getting some old guy like Jack Klugman’s Quincy. The goal is to not only add character, but positive female role models — especially minorities. Khandi’s character had class, integrity and respect for her victims. Megalyn seemed like she was just punching a time-clock for a paycheck.

Say your sorry, kiss and make up and bring back Khandi. Otherwise, how can CBS avoid a screw-up? My solution: get votes from the fans using Youtube showing multiple actresses up for the job.
