Today Pete Doherty has walked free from Wormwood Scrubs prison in London. Pete has only served 29 days of his 14-week sentence for breaching his probation.
It’s said that Pete told reporters he was glad to be out. He said that “Well, I knew it was going to be a bit rough to start with, with the overcrowding and the medical facilities, although they do their best – they are good – they can’t really cater for the average junkie.”
While Pete was in jail he was serving his sentence in segregation after claims that other prisoner’s tryed to attack him. It has been said that his early release was part of a scheme to reduce overcrowding in the prisons.
Pete’s early release means that he is now free to play on the Park Stage at the Glastonbury Festival in June.

In other news Amy Winehouse has agreed to duet with Pete at the Royal Albert Hall. Pete was forced to cancel a solo gig at the venue after being sent to jail. A rescheduled date is to be announced soon.
A source close to Amy said that “They think playing at such an incredible venue will be a massive two-fingers to their critics – especially in light of their traumatic personal lives.”
