American Idol judge Simon Cowell contemplated suicide

The American Idol judge Simon Cowell has admitted that he contemplated suicide as a teenager, he hated all the strict rules at school and found it very hard to find anything that would keep him occupied and to spark an interest in his young life which would help to inspire him in life. Speaking about his suicidal confession Simon said “I was always bored. I didn’t like the rules and I didn’t like discipline. So when someone said to me, ‘These are the best days of your life,’ I actually thought about jumping off a bridge. I was like, ‘If it gets any worse than this I’m done,’ because I hated school and I hated my life.”

Simon’s life consists of criticizing people which is something that he had to go through in life everyday in his teens however; when he started in the music business he was able to draw from his past experience. In an interview that Simon Cowell had with Parade.com he told them “No one gave me any handouts when I started. I had to work my way up. I certainly learned more when people criticised me than when they lied to me and said what I was doing was right.” He then went on to say “You cannot survive in this business unless you know when you’ve made a mistake. So I would feel guilty about giving people fake hope when I genuinely believe they have no chance.”

I have to agree with Simon on that one which is why I have a problem with the likes of Paula Abdul on American Idol, she seems to be positive all the time with the contestants on the show, and that is not guided them on the right path, she is in fact misguiding them.
