Eddy Arnold the country singer legend has sadly died aged 89 which are just under two months after his wife also died. Arnold who had a string of hits including Make the World Go Away had a nasty fall outside his home in March, after the accident he had to have hip replacement surgery. Arnold is most famous for singing romantic ballads, and for those of you who have not heard of Eddy Arnold shame on you as he has sold over 85 million record, artists of today can only dream of selling such huge numbers.
During his 60 year music career he has had 28 No.1 records, this helped him become a pioneer of “The Nashville Sound,” also called “countrypolitan, this is a mix of both country and pop. This made Arnold the first Country singer to ever cross over into pop, as a result this is what paved the way for the likes of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
Eddy Arnold did not just rely on his voice for his soft romantic country ballads; he also played the guitar as well as being a songwriter. What made Arnold so unique was the fact that he did not copy anyone, and as a result all his songs were unique. Eddy even had a TV show on ABC and NBC, this was in the early days of television; this was how the singer was able to expose country music to the masses.
Eddy Arnold is survived by a son and daughter.
We are saddened by this great loss and wish Eddy Arnolds family and friends our deepest condolences.
