ESPN realize that Soccer is not the most successful sport in the U.S. which is why they have enlisted the help of British Band Coldplay, they will use the band in music commercials during next month’s European Championship, in the hope that it will help to tease the tournament. The tournament takes place on June 7-29 in Austria and Switzerland, the song that the band will play first is their new single Viva La Vida, which is the first song from Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.
This is the first time that ESPN has entered a global campaign like this, Seth Ader the ESPN senior director said “The campaign captures the passion for European soccer.” It is great that they are using the band Coldplay, as this will get the word out about soccer and will also help to promote their new single. However; I do not think for one moment that Coldplay need to promote their new album much, we all know that the band have a new album coming out and nothing is going to stop me buying it.
After listening to the bands new single Viva La Vida, it has got my music juices going, I just need to get the new album. You have to love how Chris Martin sounds, it seems that things are going great for him and the rest of the band in the U.S. something not many British bands have managed to achieve.
