You have to wonder if Shane Richie has gotten himself into a bit of financial trouble again, as he has expressed an interest to return to BBC Soap Eastenders as Alfie Moon. Richie as well as Kat Slater played by Jessie Wallace was written out of the show back in 2005, but Shane has since found it hard to find other work that rival the success that he achieved as playing Alfie Moon.
Richie has said “I look forward to the day a call comes from the producers saying, ‘We want Alfie back.” His old pal Barbara Windsor who plays Peggy Mitchell is always telling Richie that Alfie should make a return to Eastenders, but it seems as if the BBC have different ideas. A spokesperson for the BBC said “Shane was brilliant as Alfie but there are no plans to bring him back.” When Shane left UK’s top soap it was thought that he had a string of top projects, even one in the US, but things turned out a little different. His most recent part on TV was in The Good Samaritan as well as Skins however; he did lend his voice in the Flushed Away the rat animation movie.
In March, Richie’s entertainments firm Frontline Productions went bankrupt and had debts of £370,000. There are rumors that Shane could star in a revival of Minder which will be aired on Channel Five.

i personally think both him and kat should come back, but to have had a baby together! he n kat wer deffo the best characters! he was so funny =] and she cud give bianca a run for her money in gobby-ness, lol! ah bring them bk!!

Alfie and Kat Should Defo Come Back. Can’t STAND Ronnie And Roxy. BBC Only Put Them In Because They Are A Couple Of Pretty Faces, This Is What Makes Me VERY Mad, The Pub Isnt The Same Without Kat And Alfie Behind The Bar. I Agree, Lets All Email The BBC.

We stopped our Eastenders subscription on Dish Network when Alfie and Kat left the program. If Alfie returned, I’d subscribe in a heartbeat - and even faster if Kat came back, too!
