Speed Racer movie review: it’s like NASCAR meets Anime

One of the hottest movies that is to hit cinemas this year is Speed Racer however; there are a few movies that I would rather put at the top of my list before this one, if I had to describe this movie I would say that it is like NASCAR meets Anime. The film is a little on the strange side which can only mean one thing, it is a Wachowski brothers movie, the directors have been able to capture the hyper and happy colors of the 60’s ere from the cartoon and transform it in to a sort of hybrid movie.

When Andy and Larry Wachowski’s gave us The Matrix Trilogy we was treated to a groundbreaking visionary digital environment which was unique at the time, now with Speed Racer the brothers have worked with the same collaborators to come up with something completely new once again. The movie certainly has some exhilarating action scenes, especially when we see these cars zipping along at Mach 5 while they race each other through streets. The actors try their best to become noticed in the movie, but no matter what they do nothing will stop the cars from stealing almost every scene.

The title character is played by Emile Hirsch and seems to act serious from the moment the film starts until it ends. Other actors who appear in Speed racer are the larger than life John Goodman, Lost star Matthew Fox as well as Christina Ricci and award winning actress Susan Sarandon.
