Iron Man has been out for a little over a week now and you would be forgiven for thinking that all the buzz that has surrounded Marvel Comics would have started to die down a little. Well it seems that this is not the case; it seems that in the Iron Man movie Captain America’s shield was spotted on Tony Stark’s desk. It looks as though Marvel are trying to cross more of their characters over into their other movies however; one thing has confused me a little, I thought that Captain America was not around when Tony Stark created Iron Man and that he received his shield from S.H.I.E.L.D, or maybe I am a little thick.
For those of you who have not seen this film yet you will have to wait until you are about 1 hour and 30 minutes into Iron Man. Wait until you watch the fantastic scene when Iron Man is having a bit of a dog fight with a couple of F-22 fighter jets, he then makes his way back to his lab and his robotic helpers are having trouble taking Stark’s amour of. Then his assistant Pepper Potts walks in and asks him what he is doing, it is at that moment that you can clearly see Captain America’s Shield behind Tony Stark on his desk.
Above is a still of the scene and you can see the shield, it is hard to see here but you can see it a lot easier on the big screen, so you had better make your way to the cinema and watch Iron Man just to see if you can spot it.
Did you spot Captain America’s shield on Iron Man?
Captain America was around WAYYYYY before Iron Man - back in ye olde 40’s and fighting Nazis, while Iron Man debuted in, what, ‘63 or thereabouts? I’m admittedly a DC girl, but I’m sure there are Marvelites willing to quote their history.

My bet is that Captain America will be adapted for modern times. I don’t think that many will buy a period piece. This has been done before and it failed royally.

Actually, Captain America travelled forward in time or was preserved, or something along those lines. I don’t know where exactly I got this information, but I know that I have heard it before.

ok here’s the deal. captain america was a ww2 hero fighting the nazis when he ended up frozen in the ice by crash landing there. there is numerous stories of how he ended in the ice so look them up yourself. he is then found frozen in the ice many years later and is recruited by s.h.i.e.l.d. to fight off some major threat and start the avengers. the story of how he got his shield differs as well. sometimes he gets back the original one he had in the 40’s and other times he gets a new vibranium shield from SHIELD made by tony stark. one must assume he will be getting a new shield since it appeared on iron man, his new shield is always round while his old shield from the 40s is diamondly shaped.
