Paul Pierce was keeping quite about what LeBron James’s mother had to say to him after he failed him, however the rest of us was more than interested on what she had to say to the Celtics captain. Pierce said of the incident that “He knew it was a good foul, a hard foul, and I didn’t want to give a layup,” he also added “I wasn’t trying to hurt anybody.” Pierce knows that he will be hounded about what went on so he felt that the only way to diffuse things was to address the situation before the playoff series tonight which is being played at TD Banknorth Garden.
The thing is all of these outside distractions will only put him off his game, so he is doing the right thing by telling the media his views on the incident, but could he have now added fuel to the fire. He told the media “I got some texts and I got some calls, but I’m trying to stay on a straight line and focused.” The situation as we said was because of a fail where Pierce wanted to deny James the transition of a basket by throwing him a bear hug. The result was both players crashed to the ground and were out of bounds, this enraged James’s mother Gloria where she jumped up of her seat and shouted abuse at Pierce. When asked what James’s mum said, Pierce replied that he did not know, but he understands where she is coming from, as any mother would do the same for their child.
