Will it seems that I am able to predict the future as I now know who will win American Idol next week, his name will be David. Well come on I’m not that good, both David Archuleta and David Cook are now in the top two which meant that Syesha Mercado did not make it to the final two as she was voted off. It is a shame that the results of last night’s American Idol means that it is an all male showdown next week, as Mercado was the last female standing.
It was a bit of a shock how 21-year-old Mercado managed to surpass someone like Carly Smithson who was a more accomplished singer, but this was no fluke as she also held her own against the likes of other great female singers such as Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White. In the end though it was all down to consistency and song choice and Mercado certainly knew how to challenge herself.
Last night’s episode stared off with the top three performing the classic “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now.” All three sounded great and it was hard to choose between the three, but you could see from their face and body language that they were suffering from nerves. Archuleta’s second performance was So True and Simon said that it was like Chihuahua trying to be a tiger, you got to love Simon.
After all of the performances Ryan runs through the judge’s comments from the night before. So now the final three take to the stage for the tensest part of the show, the judges spend about a minute congratulating the contestants, Ryan then announces that the final two are David Archuleta and David Cook.
