Many thought that Haze on the Sony PS3 was going to be the one great games that could help increase PlayStation 3 sales, however in the first weeks sales it looked as though Haze fell at the first hurdle, as both critics and gamers slammed it. Free Radical were taking a big gamble with this first person shooter game, Haze had a 15 rating, so it was still down to a few parents to purchase the game for their children, and many parents did not like the idea of the main characters taking drugs to improve their abilities. How can you teach your children right from wrong when it comes to taking performance enhancing drugs, when someone like Free Radical and Sony show it to be cool in a game.
But hold on a minute, do you think that as we are starting to live in a nanny state that we are reading too much in to things. I remember watching Star Trek: DS9, when Starfleet came across the Jem Hader, they needed to take Ketracel White, which helped to improve their abilities, as well as being addicted to the drug. When I first saw these characters I did not read anything into it whatsoever, so why do I find myself moaning about Haze. I think that it is so easy to jump on the bandwagon of other peoples arguments.
It is so easy for people to start blaming so many things on movies and video games, but come on some cartoons are much more violent than movies. Also people should look closer to home as to why their children grow up with the wrong ideas in life. If you and your wife argue often and your children overhear, that will have a more adverse affect on their life than any movie or video game could ever have.
Actually, the game doesn’t promote drug use/abuse. It actually shows you the side effects of taking drugs, Nectar in this case, and the main character turning against this corporation, Mantel, because of it.

Watch TV For an Hour and you will see at least 4 or 5 commercials that Promote taking drugs… (Viagra, Depression, Others) People are Designed to run without drugs, But we use them all the time!

Well put Rob. Would it be a stretch to say that there is more to be taken from the game than just drug use? It clearly shows that these soldiers that take drugs have a state of altered realism which make them susceptible to “overdosing”. If I was younger I would probably take out of that video game that those who take drugs are easily fooled and unstable, and not that I want to take drugs to help me see rabits hiding in the treeline.

Regardless of the drugs, the game sucks cock anyways. What a waste of time, what a waste, and what a waste of life! That game should not exist!
