Even before the success of Iron Man, there were rumors that Robert Downey Jr. was to play porn magnate Hugh Hefner. However; now Iron Man has been released and proved such a huge success, many believed that Downey would not play the part of the Playboy king, as this would not be the best image for a Marvel Comic book character, but then again Tony Stark is not a Peter Parker (Spider-man), or even a Clark Kent (Superman) is he. Tony Stark from the start is a ladies’ man and we know this, so it is not hard for fans to imagine Downey playing the part as Hefner.
Myself, I do not think that Robert Downey Jr. should take the part; people will be looking at his performance in a movie that promises to show us all areas of the life of Hugh Hefner’s life, and that is something that an Actor like Downey who has also had a troubled life should consider before taking the role on.
As we all know Robert Downey Jr. has had his fair share of problems with drugs in the past, which has lead to a prison sentence. Downey has done something remarkable, in the way of making a great comeback, he has always been a great actor, but has always gone for roles that showed his talents but would not earn him the money that he deserves as a great actor. Since his performance in Big Budget movie Iron Man, people have now started to notice Downey more than ever, and he now has the chance to do well in future movies. He is also starring in the Ben Stiller’s comedy Tropic Thunder, ok it is a comedy, but you have to respect Downey’s acting talents once more, as he is playing a black American. It is so great to see a truly talented actor now being rewarded for all the hard work that he has done over the years. Please I hope that Robert Downey Jr. does not take the part as Hugh Hefner, as people might be reminded of the troubled past of the actor.
