George Clooney pays tribute to Director Sydney Pollack who died of cancer Monday

Sydney Pollack who has directed such movies as Out of Africa and Tootsie, has sadly lost his battle with cancer and died on Monday. He was loved by many Hollywood stars who have come out to pay tribute to this great director. Pollock was just 73 when he passed away at his Los Angeles home. CNN reported that Pollack was surrounded by those who meant the most to him, his wife of almost 50-years Claire Griswold, as well as the couple’s two daughters Rachel and Rebecca, and his brother Bernie.

Sydney Pollack was not just a man who worked behind the camera; he sometimes appeared on the screen himself, his most recent being Michael Clayton where he starred opposite George Clooney. Pollack co-produced the movie and received seven Oscar nominations; Clooney said “Sydney made the world a little better, movies a little better and even dinner a little better. A tip of the hat to a class act.”

Pollack is used to his movies doing well, his 1986 movie Out of Africa received seven Oscars, he was also responsible for other great movies, such as Tootsie, as well as The Way We Were. Many stars have now been paying tribute to Pollack, who will be sadly missed.
