Viewers accuse Britains Got Talent bosses of rigging results

Britains Got Talent fans have accused the shows bosses of rigging the results, the past four nights has seen the person who performed last get through to Saturday’s final. The first was on Monday, when we saw the Michael Jackson dance act Signature, they performed last as a result ended up with the most votes. Tuesday was when 13-year-old Andrew Johnston performed last, he to received the most votes.

We then move to Wednesday, 14-year-old George Sampson was the last performer and also got the most votes. Last nights final performer, 12-year-old Faryl Smith was the last to perform and too received the most votes. Viewers thought that this was too much of a coincidence, as a result started to suspect Britain’s Got Talent producers of putting their favourites on last so that they are fresh in people’s minds. Fans of the show have been complaining as the lines do not open until the last act has been on, so it is inevitable that the last person on will be the one with the most votes, as they are still fresh in their mind.

One fan has said “It just seems to be a bit of a set-up that Signature, Andrew Johnston and George Sampson all went on last… I think they were all the favourites for their own specific night.” Another fan said this is “nothing more than a coincidence.” A spokeswoman for ITV has said “The judges have no say over the running order of the show. The voting is all fair and balanced.” She then went on to say “It is also worth pointing out that acts which have appeared early on in the show have been coming in second and third in the public voting.”

I do not think for one moment that the votes are rigged; the thing is all the best people are the ones who went straight through. It is a talent show, so the ones with the most talent should go through, and that is what has happened.

  1. Considering the instances during the last 2/3 years where it has been proven that both ITV and BBC have fixed shows which have required viewers’ voting, how can you believe either of the results both tonights’s programmes.

  3. YES IT WAS RIGGED. HE SHOULD NEVER HAVE WON FARYL WAS BY FAR THE BEST TO WIN! OR ANDREW WOULD HAVE MADE A CLOSE 2ND CHOICE!

  5. A Body twitching wet shower is not what I consider Talent

Escala, Faryl or Andrew would have been top three for talent with Gin and Kate a close 4th But when Signature and George were in the Top three you know the TV comany are in league with the Bookines.

What a shower of Rubbish as I said if Charlie boy is not selling those tickets out side the palace this morning then I will eat my hat.

  6. I think that George’s popularity is being under estimated when people talk of rigging votes. If you youtube his performance or look him up on bebo there are hundreds of people all pledging to ring as many times as possible for George to win. Overall I think the BEBO sites have up to 1,000 members who also promised to vote for George as many times as they could to win. No account has also been taken of how an opera singer won last year and that the British public may have wanted something else to win through.

  7. i dont think the votes were rigged ,, the people who are against me think that because their faveroute acts didnt win. just stop moaning. GEORGE WON. that that

  8. I cannot believe the British public voted enough times to give George the verdict. You try to believe it was not rigged but Oh dear!! The real talent was Faryl, Andrew, or Escala. and don’t foprget the youngster who shamefully was not voted into the final - Charlie Green. I believe he should have been given another chance with a more popular song and he would surely have been in the final 3. As far as I was concerned Faryl was head and shoulders the winner and if the public did not want another singer why not Signature who improved with every performance!

  9. I don’t believe it was rigged.
Another example of the sheer number of fans pledging to vote for George can be found on Facebook. The “George Sampson to Win Britain’s got Talent” Group has over 11,000 members. More than doubling the 4,000 in the ‘Signature to win Britain’s Got Talent’ group. And more than 5times the number of members in the groups for both Andrew Johnston and Faryl Smith.

I think it’s quite sad to see that people are trying to degrade George’s Victory. He fought to get to the final, and he more than deserved to win it. Those who are saying it was rigged are clearly just saying it because their favourite did not win. It’s pathetic. X

  10. Please dont be ‘fooled’ into thinking that EACH of those others wont have huge cash deposits into thier lives very shortly, as record producers ‘fight’ over them. Their talents wont go shortlived, and I suspect that MOST of them have already been approached or snapped up even at this early stage.
There’s a way forward quite plainly to see for the singers and escala…
Dont be so down looking for excuses of ‘rigging’ Just cos you dont agree with it.
THE VOTE was rigged very fairly if it was rigged at all.

  13. it wasnt fixed because if it was fixed it would have been fixed so faryl would win, seeing as she was the favourite of simon cowell, and hes the one who runs the show.

  14. I’m not sure it was rigged or not but when you hear of all these vote rigging phone ins several months later after the event, it would suprise me to learn that some voting anomalyy happened in a few months time.
I also find it telling that even though ITV must know the actual voting numbers they never actually publish the actual figures.
Why not? Surely it’s more interesting to know just how close it was rather than just to announce the top 3?
What are ITV scared of that they don’t want the public to know how many votes went to each act?
Rigged or not, George Sampson had the advantage of appearing on TV last year and as a result his You Tube video has been online for over a year and has allowed him to build up a huge army of female teenage fans, read the comments like “I think he’s buff” or “he is so adorable” on You Tube! One fan even stated she had voted for George over 20 times last night.
So George Sampson did win last night but the voting perhaps wasn’t on a level playing field.
Only one vote per phone number should have been permitted and acts should have been allowed to renter the competition.
Personally I couldn’t quite see what was so entertaining about someone jerking their arms about under a shower of water, and certainly after seeing the act the first time it got a little tiresome the second time.
Whilst George may have talent, other acts on the night had more talent and deserved to have been chosen ahead of George.

  15. Everyone is just getting paranoid about TV shows being rigged and taking too far.

The top 3 acts were all very talented and deserved to be there and George did deserve to win. He is a great dancer and a likeable lad who has worked hard to get where he is. Talent is not just about singing or playing an instrument - very few of us could dance like George!

We all had our favourites and Andrew Johnston was one of mine too but Im very pleased George won he was a worthy winner. Everyone should stop complaining it was rigged just because a different type of act won this year and appreciate the winner!

    Comment by L K — June 2, 2008 @ 10:12 am

  16. FARYL is incredibly talented however the moment Simon paid for voice coaching lessons for her she should have been excluded. I am not putting down her talent just saying she had an unfair advantage to the others. OK she never won but that hardly matters when she now has a contract with syco any way. Also, no way was George the rightful winner. He has now said that he was warned that to continue to dance was endangering his life due to the rare illness he has. Wonderful if he dies on stage or becomes paralysed during his performance at the Royal Variety Show. How would that make every one feel

    Comment by Alan — June 2, 2008 @ 10:49 am

  17. The above comment about George’s condition is untrue
The Sun newspaper got hold of the information and over exaggerated.
If you look on the ITV website, there is a video interview with George in which he explains that the condition is nowhere near as bad as it has been made out to be. He says it ‘cranks up sometimes’ but it doesn’t affect his dancing and he doesn’t even have to think about it when he’s dancing.

George won because he had talent, originality and he was incredibly likeable. People can say he won because of his sob story, but Andrew Johnston had a sob story, as did Madonna Decena, but she failed to make it through to the finals.

This is all a case of jealousy.
The only people who think it was rigged, are those who are bitter that their favourite act didn’t win.

As for it being an act of Racism.
    That is absolutely ridiculous
And you should be ashamed of yourself for even suggesting it. X

  18. OMG i have read all the posts here and not 1 person has mentioned STRIKE!!! they were awsome, personally i have seen better butto the general public thist sorta thing should bee really entertaining, or is it just me ???

  19. Hmmmm…I have to say that did seem a bit strange, but personally I think the the producers knew who would be popular & put them at the end, so they would be fresh in the viewer’s minds. However I don’t think it was rigged. && even if it was, it wasn’t like untalented weirdos went through to the finals. GEORGE SAMPSON (YAY my faveee!winner!) Andrew & Escala, to mention some, were pure talent & would have gone through anyways, in my belief. (:

  25. Some of you people are just mad because the people that YOU thought were great didn’t win. There ARE other people in this world you know, they get a vote too and they can express their opinions. P Stars… how is Britain’s Got Talent racist? I do agree with Jennifer because they would have gotten caught anyway if it WAS rigged.
