Yesterday Paul Gascoigne’s ex-wife Sheryl rushed from her home to be with him as he begins the long battle to overcome his booze-fuelled mental health problems. Paul was sectioned under the Mental Health Act for an initial 28 days for his own safety for the second time and yesterday Paul walked arm-in-arm in the gardens of the Priory with Sheryl who he drunkenly battered during their short and troubled marriage.
Friends have said that Sheryl has put aside the bitterness of their violent marriage to give him the support he so desperately needs after he pleaded for help.
A friend of Paul said that “He and Sheryl have had their troubles in the past but she has tried to do as much as she could for him in recent months as his problems have deepened. In the last few days she has really been there for him. She realises he is going through a difficult time and needs all the help he can get. Despite their divorce she is still an important figure in his life and it means a lot to him that she is there for him. She is one of just a few people who could save him.”
Doctors are said to have warned his treatment will take a minimum of three months to complete and previous attempts to get him to accept treatment voluntarily have failed because he kept discharging himself. So let’s just hope that they can keep him in there this time.

get the fuck sheryl away from him ,she was a waste of space that married him for who he was. she was a nobody untill she met him as 4 her daughter that wouldnt take his name untill she was on luv islnd its a no wonder he went as mad as he did .

I´m from Germany and I never forget Paul Gascoignes tears after the semi-final against Germany in 1990 and Pauls magnificent goal aganist Scotland at EM 1996. He gives the football EVERYTHING he had and millions of fans wonderful football-moments. A player like Paul Gascoigne is a player for the whole world. Everbody has to do everything to help him. Pleas Sheryl, please Bianca help him and let me know what to do to support You in this job. Let him know thousands of fans in Germany and especially me would be very happy to see Paul come back in good health, without alcohol and in a new life. He can give young boys a lot as a trainer because he always loved football - and we love him.
