Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin are Married

Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin will tie the knot today but yesterday according to officials they married in a civil ceremony in Portofino, Italy. As a historic church was being prepared for their big day, Wayne and Coleen left the town hall in Santa Margherita di Ligure after they were given the go-ahead by officials to wed a requirement under Italian law.

It’s said that Coleen cried during the short service and that only family and close friends attended. Both Wayne and Coleen had friends as witnesses. It’s said that the service was conducted in Italian and an interpreter was used.

The wedding will cost around £5 million and will involve a civil ceremony which seems to have taken place and a religious service that will take place today. The chapel was yesterday decked out with white flowers and hundreds of candles on wrought-iron holders and a £50,000 fireworks display is due to take place beneath La Cervara’s terraced gardens at midnight tonight.

After the wedding the newlyweds and their guests will board a £40million yacht to kick off 24 hours of celebrations, including performances from Westlife.
