
It has just been announced that Coldplay’s new album has gone straight to the top of the album charts on the back of just three days’ sales, according to the Official Charts Company. Their 4th album was released on Thursday. Its said that the album with is called “Viva La Vida” sold 302,000 units through Saturday night and according to the data from the Official U.K. Chart Company it means that it is the band’s fastest-selling release to date. The total compares to the 465,000 sold by 2005’s “X&Y” in a full sales week, and 274,000 for 2002’s “A Rush of Blood to the Head.”
In other news it seems that not everyone’s happy about Coldplay’s track Viva La Vida, least of all the band Creaky Boards who claim in this video that they wrote it. Coldplay have denied the allegation and have said that their track was written and demoed in March 2007, a full six months before Creaky Boards say Chris saw them play.
A Coldplay spokesperson said that Chris Martin was recording at Air Studios in London during 2007’s CMJ, and so couldn’t possibly have been in the crowd
