Last night season three of America’s Got Talent kicked off in New York City and what a show it was. Host Jerry Springer informed everyone that this year’s prize will be $1 million plus a contract to perform in Las Vegas. This season’s judges are as follows, Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff.
Let’s get down to last nights show it kicked of with 52 year-old metal worker Bill Curly. He is a self-described “song & dance man” and says his act is “serious/mysterious.” Bill sings “It’s Not Unusual” and gets buzzed right away by David and Piers. Sharon said that it was actually Bill doing Elvis doing Tom Jones.
Then there was Jonathan who is a 32 year-old classical trombonist. He plays “Bad Girls,” and has some kick-ass disco moves. The judges loved him and he’s through to the next round. Well done Jonathan.
Next up was twin sisters Gabriela and Michaela, who are from Rumania and go by the name “Indigo,” They performed a routine to “New York, New York”. They got buzzed by Piers and David but the audience seems to have loved it. Sharon puts them through to the next round because she said that America is the Land of Opportunity.
Brothers Tory and Damian from Queens are “Nuttin’ but Strings.” They combine classical and hip-hop on their violins. Piers called them original and super-talented. Sharon says they are going to be responsible for a lot of young kids going for violin lessons, which is exactly what they want. David said they loved it and so did I.
Next was 17 year-old Jonathan, who is a baton twirler. He talks about how hard it was for him growing up. He performs to “Devil Went Down to Georgia” and he twirls a flaming baton. David said that all the kids who called him names can shove it and that he’s proud of Jonathan for sticking with his dream. Jonathan is through to the next round. I was a baton twirler for 12 years and it was very hard for boys to be accepted in this event well done Jonathan follow your dream and don’t worry what others say.
The last guy of the night was 32 year-old insurance salesman opera singer named Neal. He talks about growing up poor and how important his mom is to him. He sings something in Italian. Neal is very good. He gets a standing ovation and breaks down in tears. David calls him the front-runner, Sharon says he’s spectacular, and Piers says there was electricity.
Wow what a show it was who stood out to you last night?
