It has been reported that George Clooney and Bruce Springsteen have joined politicians and journalists in honouring the memory of U.S. political heavyweight Tim Russert, who sadly died last Friday. Bruce who was Tim’s favourite rocker, took time to pay tribute to Tim during a concert in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday night and then dedicated Thunder Road to him. Also George was among those who sent flowers to a public wake for the Meet The Press host at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C, where President George. W. Bush was among mourners.
Thousands of friends, colleagues and strangers joined President Bush and his wife, Laura, in paying respects on Tuesday to Tim Russert. It’s said that several hundred people were in line more than an hour before the early afternoon start of the wake at St. Albans School, an elite private boy’s school on the grounds of Washington National Cathedral in Northwest Washington.
President Bush, who was accompanied by the first lady, was one of the first people to enter the closed-casket wake, which was scheduled to last seven hours. The president stayed about 20 minutes while the growing crowd outside waited patiently on a pleasant, sunny day.
Today a private funeral mass and burial will take place and a televised memorial service will take place at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, D.C. later on today.
