We all most know how disappointing it was for Kobe Bryant, as he and his team fell short at the NBA championship. Well Bryant along with other basketball players LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, have a chance of even greater glory. The players will lead a U.S. Olympic basketball team, they will hope to do much better than the third-place they achieved in Athens four years ago, the team hope to bring the gold home from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
The team has already been doing will on an international level, but now it is hoped that they can show how improved they are at the Olympic Games, which will be held in Beijing on August 4. The team that the U.S is sending to China are both deep and versatile, these include Carmelo Anthony, Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Michael Redd, Tayshaun Prince among others.
USA Basketball managing director, Jerry Colangelo, said “”It was a very difficult selection process,” Colangelo said.”When you have as many outstanding players as we have in this country — to select a group of 12 is obviously going to leave out a number of outstanding people.” The final team who were selected to play for their country were done so without a tryout, the final team will meet in Las Vegas on July 20-25 where they will train as well as play an exhibition against Canada, and then they will head over to China.
The U.S. Olympic basketball team will play the first match on August 10, and well be playing the home team China.
