Tonight’s Euro 2008 semi-final game between Germany and Turkey will be held in Basel, it is a match that Germany go in as favourites to win as the odds are stacked against Turkey. Fatih Terim’s team are missing some of their key players, this is either through injury or suspension. For those of you who would like to place and a bet but do not know who to bet for, just consider that of the four games that Turkey has played, they have only held the lead for a total of one minute.
Turkey lost to Portugal in the opening game, but the team managed to pick themselves up and saw off Switzerland with a stoppage-time goal from Arda Turan. Then with their game against the Czech Republic, they scored three times in the final 12 minutes. When Turkey played Croatia, it did look as though they had the game all sewn up, but Ivan Klasnic squeezed a goal out in the 119th minute. However; Semih Senturk managed to level the game before a tense shoot-out which saw Turkey Triumph.
Many could not believe the poor start that Germany made of their Euro 2008 campaign; they are in second place in group B, behind Croatia. However; their last eight match against Portugal showed that the team still had plenty of life left in them.
So who is your money on, the smart money would be for Germany to win, but should never underestimate the Turkish football team they are fighters which they have proved on a number of occasions.
