It has just been reported that thousands of festival goers are stuck traffic because all the roads have been closed around Glastonbury due to a massive fire at a scrap yard which is just one mile from the Worthy Farm site. It’s said that the fire has caused the evacuation of residents living near by, but people at the festival already have not been asked to leave yet.
Large clouds of smoke are drifting across the area and the A37 has been closed, which police warn could delay travel times to the festival by around five hours. It’s reported that at least two people were taken to hospital with minor burns. Explosions from gas bottles on the four-acre site were audible up to half a mile away.
British Red Cross volunteers have been offering support to the hundreds of festival-goers who found themselves stranded as they made their way to the Glastonbury site.
All the Music kicks of tomorrow with Kings of Leon headlining the Pyramid Stage, followed by Jay-Z on Saturday and The Verve on the last night.
