Opera-loving dentist Andrew Bain is all set to swap his drill for a microphone after winning a four-album recording contract worth one million pounds. Andrew who is 35 has worked as a dentist in London for more than 10 years and was finally signed by record company SonyBMG after chasing a deal for years.
Its said that Andrew’s debut album is set to be released in September and will feature operatic versions of pop hits such as The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now?”, Abba’s “The Winner Takes It All” and Prince’s “Purple Rain”.
Andrew said that “This is the ultimate dream come true,” he said in a statement. “Not only have I finally got a record deal, but they understand my eclectic taste in music. Who needs yet another version of ‘Nessun Dorma?’”
Andrew has performed in productions of the musicals “Les Miserables” and “Whistle Down the Wind”.
It’s said that SonyBMG has high hopes for Andrew. Senior executive Richard Hinkley said that “Andrew is a refreshingly different talent. He is performing opera with a uniquely contemporary touch. He has taken what is traditionally elitist and made it resonate with fans of popular music in a style familiar to millions.”
What do you think? Can he make it big?

Andrew Bain has a wonderful voice, I wish my dentist would sing like him instead of asking questions that you can’t answer with a mouthful of drill. What I don’t like is that they are going to have him sing already done pop songs in his own way, why can’t they come up with something new. I don’t think I want to hear purple rain or abba’s winner takes it all again
