Under attack: The New Yorker over Barack Obama Cover

The New Yorker magazine has come under attack, following the cover that they run showing Barack Obama as a Muslim and his wife Michelle as a terrorist. The New Yorker has since released a statement saying that the cover which shows Senator Obama wearing a turban, robe and sandals, was intended to satirize the scare tactics being used by opponents of the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate.

However; the cover of this magazine has seen a wave of criticism and has come under attack from commentators, who has warned that it could fuel false rumors of Barack’s background.

There are now warnings that this controversial cover could now drive a wedge between The New Yorker and many of its readers who support Obama. Polls have been taken, 10 percent of voters actually believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim because of his religion ties as a child.

Mr. Obama has always denied that he is not and never was a Muslim; he went on to say that he had no faith, until he found Christianity in his 20s.

Republican presidential candidate, John McCain has said the cover was “totally inappropriate”.

    Not only do I think this so called editor David Remnicks allowance of this brutally racist depiction of Obama and his wife is a typical, primitive move by a white person in fear of change. I also think that David Remnicks racist depiction of the Obama family was premeditated and so was his comment. His stance is not journalism. His intention was to do more harm than good. That is not journalism nor what journalism is about. I think David Remnick should be held accountable and sued in a court of law “to say the least” for his reckless disregard. The Freedom of Speech does not give him the right to violate peoples right’s and slander them. I clearly see alot of this familys rights being violated. SUE DAVID REMNICK AND THE NEWYORKER!!!!!! MAKE HIM PAY OUT OF HIS @#! INSTEAD OF HIS MOUTH.

    Girrl I think dis cover here is hialrious. i aint thinkin theres anything wrong w/ it. Its not like Liberals don’t always try to pull junk on the conservatives all the time, and the newyorker already explained the reasoning behind it. The Left is always looking for a conspiracy.     I feel that “The NewYorker” was correct to run the Cover, because the Democrats are treating the issue like ostriches. Ignore it and it will go away. However if David Duke was running and the Press couldn’t bring up the fact that he was in the Klan, and then someone did the left would say “YES”. The left press does not want any dialog on this issue, but for the last 4 years thay have waged war on President Bush without any limitation and I say that is a worst outrage.
