
It has been announced that yesterday TV star Hugh Lloyd died at the age of 85 at his home in Worthing, West Sussex. It’s said that Lloyd fell ill last week after suffering shortness of breath.
Lloyd was most famous for his role in the 60s sitcom Hugh and I. and its said that he was once in Doctor Who.
Hugh Lewis Lloyd was born on the 22nd April 1923 and was brought up in Chester, the son of a tobacco factory manager.
Hugh’s stage career included West End theatres, such as Windmill, the Strand and the Lyric. Hugh was also part of the Royal National Theatre Company. In 2006 Hugh was awarded an MBE.
A close friend of Hugh Kerry de Courcy said that “He was a lovely man. You hear so much of that in show business, but he really was. He did charity work for many years.”
Hugh Lloyd is survived by his widow, Shän, and his second wife, the musician José Stewart.

How odd. I watched Hugh in Doc Martin tonight and was reminded how good he was and that he had outlasted all the other comedians of his generation. I just searched for him on the net only to find that he has now gone to join them.
