Boxer Oscar Diaz is now to undergo brain surgery after he collapsed during his fight with Delvin Rodriguez on Wednesday night. Delvin is thought to be concerned about his fellow fighter.
In the 11th round of the USBA welterweight title, Diaz rose from his stool but began to wobble and then crashed to the canvas.
Referee Robert Gonzalez had seen this and immediately signalled for the bell, which was when medical personnel rushed into the ring.
Physician Dr. Wayne Lee has said that “He was breathing and he has a blood pressure, but he was not responding to our commands. Oscar Diaz was taken away from the ring on a stretcher and then taken to University Hospital.
He is now to undergo brain surgery to relieve swelling and bleeding on the brain. Although the fight now counts as a victory for Rodriguez, he has said that he is more concerned about his opponent’s well-being than his victory.

hey diaz family ive been a fan 4 a couple of years. and seening oscar have a good career in boxing is great but remember your brain could take so much punishment. i used to be a professional fighter myself and at first i used to like it.for so many years i went out of town and fought the best. but sometimes i didnt remember who i fought i went like that without telling nobody i used to tell my wife but still it was in my blood i wanted to fight. but untll 1993 i fought for a title then i relized that it was over because i lost and in top of that i didnt remember i used to have big headaches for days so i decided to quit it was hard but i wasnt going to lose my life for 2500.00 and my family. iam 40 now and i thank god for life. but remember just keep praying .oscar will be alright ill be praying god loves yall.

I come from a Family of Boxers, My Brother is a Former Three Time Champion. My Prayers go out to You Oscar and Your Family. I have two Sons who box and I hope they never fight again. I have a Prayer for You on My Grand Son’s Myspace. You’re in God’s hands, You will see You will be ok. My Brother was brutally knocked out and spent two days in the hospital, I can only imagine what You’re Family is going through. To His Family, stay strong and continue to Pray. As a Sister to a Boxer, I know this is extremley hard for You Theresa and I Pray for You and as a Mother of Boxers, I Pray for You Mrs. Diaz God Bless Terry Gamache
