The Boston Red Sox has to thank Jon Lester as he made a superb comeback, while at the same time rescuing them from the Mariners. Lester pitched with authority last night, which helped them beat the Mariners 4-0.
Jon Lester was very strong into the eighth inning, which was when the Mariners loaded the bases on three singles. During the game Lester was hit in the shin, which dropped him to the sitting position.
Red Sox trainer, Paul Lessard came to the mound and Lester then walked off with him. Francona had no choice but to bring on the services of Jonathan Papelbon.
After the game Francona said about the incident “He’s ok, it was time to get Paps anyway.”
