Whenever the Oscars come round it is a boring affair, and more often than not we know he will win an Oscar. Well the 2009 Oscars might be an award ceremony that we actually care about, as we hope that one of the stars in The Dark Knight might receive an award.
Summer blockbusters are not normally films that get a mention at the Oscars, but this movie is an exception. The new Batman movie has been getting some rave reviews, and could be a contender in the Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay categories.
The Dark Knight’s greatest hope for an Oscar has to be from Heath Ledger, he could end up being the seventh-ever posthumous acting nominee. It is his performance as The Joker that has made people come out and ask that he should win an Oscar.
If Ledger was nominated for an Oscar, I am sure that there will be a few million extra viewers tuning in for the awards. Let’s face it, the Oscars could use this kind of boost and it would be a nice thought that the fans choice could win an award next time round.
Is heath Ledger worthy of an Oscar for his performance, my answer would be yes?

Yes, he should. The reason being that when you watch this movie you forget you are watching Heath Ledger and realize you are actually watching The Joker. And it has nothing to do with him being alive or not. I wasn’t even a fan of Ledger’s in any sense of the word before TDK. I was even quite confused when they cast a teen heartthrob as one of the best villains of all time. However, as a Batman fan, I was more than pleasantly surprised. Even if he was still alive, I really think people would still be raving about his performance. Like the article says, this wouldn’t be the first posthumous Oscar.
