The reason being that when you watch this movie you forget you are watching Heath Ledger and realize you are actually watching The Joker.  And it has nothing to do with him being alive or not.  I wasn&#039;t even a fan of Ledger&#039;s in any sense of the word before TDK.  I was even quite confused when they cast a teen heartthrob as one of the best villains of all time.  However, as a Batman fan, I was more than pleasantly surprised.  Even if he was still alive, I really think people would still be raving about his performance.
