So it is almost that time again, four years has now gone past so that can only mean one thing, it is time for the Olympic Games. The 2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony is due to start and already people have been moaning about the games before they have started.
I love the Olympics, this four years have taking an age to get to but now it is time for hours of great TV. I have to mention though that I have never been one for watching the opening ceremony for the Olympics. Forgive me for saying this, but I think that it is a huge waste of money.
I would hate to be the person in charge of organizing the event, there are so many countries that do not get on with each other, try keeping them apart. Most Arab countries will want to be kept away from Israel, and so to do the Chinese with Taiwan.
There is one other problem with the 2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony, will we be able to see it ok. Have you seen the amount of smog around that place? The thing is China has had years to plan this event and one thing they should have done was sort out the pollution.
Will you tune in to watch the 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremony?
My girlfriend is there
she says the thmosfere is great!

I don’t want to watch it period, with out without smog/pollution!
Until China become a more reform country, they will forever remain a Communist Country.
Why bother give them the Olympic and the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai!

No one can be able to clear pollution in anywhere because it will stay there for a very long time.

Not watch the olympics that would be sacrilege, at least for two weeks the world is at one ( yeah yeah I am an idealist) The ultimate test of the human spirit/endurance

Yes I’ll be watching. I was at the Barcelona olympics and it was great, but we couldn’t afford the opening ceremony then but everyone we met who went had a great time. It’s an introduction,
its fun and it will have a ‘feel good factor’. China has problems but
the more nationalities who visit the quicker change will come about.
So support our athletes and applaud all nationalities who are taking part, put politics aside for the games.

Yes, definitely will. Olympics is all about the world holding together and share a same dream. I don’t understand why people like to pull politics together and critique how China run their country. People forget when come to sport, it is a game, a competition, and a place where everyone will meet and experience it cultures. It is not about Human Rights, Freedom of Speech..etc.. Pollution is everywhere, it just happen Beijing have heavier effect. What about LA or other developed country?
This Olympics provide a great opportunities to open our eyes to see the other side of this world. We just need to be wise and open minded.

Why not? Since when the world is in real peace, and there’re no conflict btw countries? And since when there’s no environmental problem? If you want to wait for then to watch Olympic, then good luck, may your wish come true!
I’ll definitely watch it, and fully support the spirit of short period of ‘World Peace’…
Go China go!!

I missed the opening ceremony (working) and figured I’d watch it online. I cannot find it anywhere. This is ABSURD. Even the crappy, low res, worthless youtube clips have been removed due to copyright violation. Fine, but put it SOMEWHERE!!!!
This is exactly the kind of thing the internet would be good for, but Noooooooo… can’t do that.
Geez!

The opening ceremony was like a giant video game, similar to the Millipede or old Centipede games. With few moments of true beauty.

I should say some people have no idea about what the chinese have done for the 2008. As I known, the engineeror of the firework have taken a lot of measures to reduce the pollution including using new-tech of burning, no paper lanching etc. People in the bird’s net said that they couldn’t even smell anything of the firework and there was no rubbish fallen after it. Please care about this.

I get it — we get to feel what its like to be blocked from watching just what we want to watch online (yesterday’s opening ceremony in my case & Freddy’s case). Now we know how they feel having their internet censored.
