It seems that there are new things coming out every day about the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. The latest one is that the girl who was singing “Ode to the Motherland” was lip-syncing. When I watched this I knew right away, but I could not post anything as it was just a feeling that I had.
The reason that the organizers took the decision to have the young girl lip-sync was because she was not that good at singing, but they liked how she looked. Instead they choose 7-year-old Yang Peiyi to sing the song. They did not want her to perform live as she wasn’t good looking enough for the ceremony.
Those are not my words; they are the words of chief music director from the ceremony. Apparently they did not like her chubby face and crooked baby teeth.
The girl who was miming was Lin Miaoke, She is no stranger to the attention, Miaoke is a veteran of television ads. She told the China Daily newspaper “I felt so beautiful in my red dress.”
Just a few days ago I was thinking that the Beijing 2008 had pulled of the greatest opening ceremony ever, but I am slowly feeling a bit cheated. What else was fake about the ceremony?
