Pitcher Paul Byrd has been acquired by the Boston Red Sox from the Cleveland Giants, many will see this as a sign that Clay Buchholz will be demoted to Triple-A. Byrd will become a free agent after the year; he is 7-10 with a 4.53 ERA on the season.
Many will know that Paul Byrd is a steady and consistent starter; there is no reason why he will not be the same for the Red Sox. Back in 1999 he made the All-Star team, after that he went through a bit of a rough patch but he managed to makes things right and improve his game in 2002.
In the exchange deal for Byrd the Red Sox has two choices, send the Indians a player or give them cash.
There are a number of baseball fans who just love Byrd’s old-fashioned windup; he swings his arm back before winding up. The pitching is so cool one that not many people do.
