Yang Peiyi was the real voice behind Fridays Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing. It seems that she was not good looking enough to sing in front of the 91,000 people in the crowd and the billions of people watching on the TV.
Lin Miaoke had the perfect voice for Ode to the Motherland, but organizers did not like her look so used, Lin Miaoke to mime the song. In all the places, I did not think that I would be seeing lip-syncing at the Olympics.
You do have to worry that the Chinese organizers are criticizing a girl because she has buck teeth and chubby cheeks; if I was her parent I would be very angry. But at least the truth is coming out now; Yang Peiyi is able to take the credit that she deserves.
Yang Peiyi, 7, is a 1st grader at a Primary School which is associated with Peking University. Yang’s tutor has described the young girl in her blog; by saying “She doesn’t like to show off. She’s easygoing. She is cute and well-behaved, with a love for Peking opera.”
Please give Yang Peiyi the credit she deserves, and a little note to the organizers of the Olympics “You should be ashamed of yourself, this little girl is cute.”

She is adorable. She is a child with a beautiful voice. How could you be so cruel?

I think we (the media) and the bloggers should shout
Yang Peiyi’s name on every post we can.
Her picture should blanket the world.
She is a child..and an adorable one and it is a disgusting statement that she is not pretty enough to represent her country.
Let’s make her a family word

Yang Peiyi is adorable looking. The promoters of the Olympics got it wrong. Maybe she can sing at the ending ceremonies of the Olympics and show the world what a wonderful child they have living and singing there.

Yeah! I say give her the stage at the closing and let her sing!!!! Shame on you Olympic organizers! Shame on you! For a country that is so big on honor where is the honor in telling a little girl she isn’t good enough to be seen, but good enough to be heard. If I were God I’d smite you for such cruelty.

I am so sadened that we live in an era where suck a beautiful child is considered not pretty enough. She is beautiful inside and out. Shame on those who made this decision, and shame on those who didn’t stand up for her and cowered behind the “Just the honor is enough” statement. These are truly shallow and dark days.
Yang Peiyi you are fantastic and beautiful!!

I am absolutely disgusted at the treatment by olympic officials of this gorgeous girl. She is a 7yr old for gods sake. Yang Peiyi should have been up there singing that song for real and getting the glory and praise that she deserves. This world is getting so out of control its not even funny. How is anyone supposed to have pride in anything to do with their countries anymore when you know things like this go on and not only that because its all political they get away with is, no wonder no-one has any respect for politicians anymore. Yang Peiyi is a gorgeous child.

What a sweet face Yang Peiyi has! She has a beautiful voice, a lovely disposition and should have been allowed to shine at the opening ceremonies. What shallow people the the “Powers That Be” behind the ceremonies in Beijing must be to have disrespected such a beautiful, talented child in such a cruel and heartless manner!

They are communists… What did you expect?

The little girl who really sang the song wasn’t even ugly!

Yang Peiyi is a beautiful little girl and it would be nice and the right thing to do for the Olympic officials to arrange for her to sing in her own right at the closing ceremony.

how could they do this to a cute little girl?I hope they at least let her sing in the closing ceremonies!Shame on them for not letting her sing because she’s “not cute enough”…everyone agrees that this girl is very beautiful and deserves to sing!

Debbie - Very well said. The only “honorable” thing for the Chinese to do is put her in front of the cameras during the closing ceremonies and let that beautiful child sing for all the world to see and hear. Dress her as beautifully as they did the other child and show pride in the talent one of their youngest citizens possesses!

Honestly I don’t see why all this uproar. Lin Miaoke is very pretty and looks better during the ceremony than Yang Peiyi would have been. Considering the ceremony is a show, the organizers made the right decision.

This little girl is beautiful and with a voice as sweet as that her image should be posted everywhere. Shame on the Chinese officials for not giving her the respect and recognition she deserves.

Erick, you are as shallow as the Chinese officials that allowed this travesty in the first place. Neither they nor you have shown the true spirit of the Olympics. It’s all about who is the best at what they do. It’s true for the athletes and should have been true for their little songbird, Yang Peiyi!
